REDUCING INFORMATION INEQUALITY
2018 –RETHINK MENTAL ILLNESS
This year Projekt Polonia, an activity of Bal Polski CIC, now in its third year, builds on Bal Polski’s previous work with Alzheimer’s Society and Stroke Association
46 Bal Polski will be fundraising for Rethink Mental Illness who have an urgent need to support Polish mother tongue speakers in the UK who have contacted the helpline.
“We believe a better life is possible for millions of people affected by mental illness. Today we directly support almost 60,000 people every year across England to get through crises, to live independently and to realise they are not alone. And we change attitudes and policy for millions.
We provide expert, accredited advice and information to everyone affected by mental health problems. When mental illness first hits you or your family, it can be hard to know who or what to trust. We give people clear, relevant information on everything from treatment and care to benefits and employment rights. We were the first mental health charity to gain the Information Standard for our trusted and relevant information.
Projekt Polonia will fund the translation into Polish, of English language mental health information leaflets. These will be distributed by Rethink Mental Illness online or through their helpline.
Projekt Polonia is an endeavour of the Polish community in the UK to make a difference: raising the awareness of information and expertise made available by UK charities, to support Polish speakers whose families and loved ones may be affected, and give them the tools and knowledge that until now has only been accessible to those with a good command of English.
