Mazury 52 Bal Polski

Based in West London, Mazury is led by Artistic Director Zosia Lesiecka and her husband, instructor and choreographer Lucjan Santos Witkowski. Welcoming children from seven, Mazury’s 120 members span three generations of the Polish émigré community. Musical Director Jadwiga Słomka, recently formed Mazury’s ensemble choir, ‘Fiołki’. Wisia Saller and a committed sewing team manage our extensive collection of costumes. Mazury has performed for the Royal family at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Warsaw’s Łazienki Park and Wawel Castle. The group perform regularly at community and charity events, sharing the richness of Polish folklore with others. It is always an honour to perform in our homeland; Mazury partake in the Beskid Culture Festival. Reaching out to new audiences, Mazury has danced at the Wilderness Festival, St. John’s Smith Square, Brixton Electric and the Tate Modern. In 2018 Mazury performed at the Royal Albert Hall, marking the centenary of Poland’s independence. In the summer of 2023, Mazury embarked on a tour to Poland to take part in the Festival of the Beskid Highlands. During this time, the group formed a unique friendship with the group ‘Estrada Regionalna Rownica im. Renaty Ciszewskiej’. Mazury will be celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2024 and is delighted that ‘Rownica’ will perform alongside them at the New Wimbledon Theatre. Bringing people together: passion, fun, and a commitment to upholding Polish culture and traditions through dance and song lie at Mazury’s heart.
